I've grown to believe that families are an essential part of the Lords Plan of Happiness. But the word "family" extends further than blood relatives (at least to me.) I use the word family so often though. You can imagine how confused I get during our family reunions--always wondering where everyone else is. (And by everyone else, I mean those people you spend so much time with you consider them part of the family.) Over 230 of my brothers and sisters live in my home town. Impressive right? They are my Ward Family. Our love for each other knows no boundries. During Fast and Testimony meeting today, a sweet young mother stood at the pulpit and thanked us all for easing the burdens that had been placed upon her shoulders. A few months ago her and her husband received news that they were expecting. They were over joyed. Four long years they had been waiting to have another baby. Finally, they had their chance. As Christmas break rolled around however, she began to have complications and feared that she would lose the baby. A few weeks later, her fears became a reality. Rather than feeling sorry for what had happened though, she thanked Heavenly Father with a gracious heart for our Ward and all that we had done to help her in her time of need. Delivering dinners, embracing her with warm hugs and friendly smiles, comforting phone calls, that's what family is all about. I know she will be blessed with more children. She is a strong and faithful daughter of god. She is my sister. And our Ward Family is forever.
God Bless the Lakes Ward.
