Today I got to experience a little taste of what it would be like to be a mom. Nothing too mom-ish though, just watching Abbie for an hour while her mom led the music in sacrament meeting. But gee, did we have fun. Once the talks started, we pulled out her pad of paper and she set the crayons in my hand. A few minutes later she whispered in my ears "Rachael....how do you spell your name?" I told her, and watched her fold up a yellow piece of paper and sign her name. I love little kid handwriting. Its adorable. By the end of the hour, I had formed quite a collection of drawings. She's so precious.
When she finished drawing up the invitation to go to her toy party, she "whispered" "Rachael, this is real. You're invited to my party on Monday." I looked at her and smiled. "Abbie, I have work on Monday." she gave me a face. "When else do you work?" "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. So I suppose we can do it Friday." Her eyes got really big. Then, she exclaimed, (Right in the middle of sacrament meeting i might add...QUITE loudly) "WHAT?" I smiled and whispered in her ear "Abbie, sshhh....whisper please."
Sidenote: She needs to work on her whispering. But it was so cute. When the meeting ended, she gave me a hug and thanked me for watching her. Goodness....I love playing Mom.
